A thought is like a Virus. It spreads viciously and mutates meanly. Virus needs a host to survive and so does a thought. You can minimise the impact of Virus by keeping a physical distance. Similarly, if you observe the arising thought by keeping some distance, it loses its power. A thought in itself has no power. A thought arises and if you believe the thought, it comes into existence and eventually becomes your experience.
No thought is harmful without your co-operation. However, if the thought sticks to any aspect of your identity, it can rattle your soul.
If you show affection, it can turn into infection.
Have you ever wondered how different people react differently to same situation or event?
One person may react furiously to a particular situation or event while the other will have no effect. The reason is that latter has no interest in it.
If you are not invested in a thought, you can’t be molested by it.
Thousands of thoughts arise and pass during the day. Not all of them carry weight. However, some may take you for an involuntary ride only to realise later that it has completely drained you.
Point is that you have the power to get off the ride.
They say “Choose your battles wisely”. I would rather say “Watch your thoughts vigilantly” and you may not have to fight the battles you think you do.
