Life is a series of exchanges.
You are constantly trading one thing for another.
You are constantly choosing one over another. By choosing one, you are not choosing the other.
What you choose depends on what you value. But often, you don’t know what you value. You think you know what you value. Some of your values are not even your very own. They are mimetic values that you unconsciously pick up from people around you.
Then there is something that you value the most. Something that you must have that makes your life worth living. You are uncompromising when it comes to this.
Your Non-Negotiable.
If you absolutely narrow down your Non-Negotiable, singular, not plural that is…
Achieving your Non-Negotiable is possible in most cases. The only thing that prevents you from achieving it is the fact that you are not prepared to let go of other comforts to accomplish your Non Negotiable.
We often have too many things in the list of Non-Negotiable. Unfortunately, we want all of them, all the time or all at once.
I have often heard people say “You can have it all”. However, I have my doubts. May be you can have it all..but not all at once..
As you move through different phases of life, your Non-Negotiable changes too. But the great news is, if you are prepared to make changes that are uncomfortable – it is always within reach.
Having said this, the ultimate freedom lies in having no Non-Negotiable in life.
