Do you really have any control?
You are not breathing.
You are not blinking an eye.
You are not seeing with your eyes.
You are not digesting the food.
You are not pumping the blood.
You are not beating the heart.
Breathing happens.
Blinking happens.
Seeing happens.
Heart beats.
Blood flows.
You can not even pick and control your thoughts during the day.
You are not doing any of this. You can only be aware of this.
You can plan but you can not plan for your plan to go your way. You can book a flight but you can not plan for your safe landing at the destination. You can book a holiday but you can not envisage the pandemic.
If it were in your control, you would perfectly craft your life the way you want. Why would anybody pick pain, sorrow, disappointment and suffering if it were in his control? You will remove all these and make your life just perfect.
But it is not in your control. You just have to look back in your life to viscerally confirm this. Life keeps presenting new situations, people and circumstances. It keeps surprising you. You are just playing it along. You think you have the GPS and know where you are going….and suddenly, life takes away the signal and puts you on a different path.
An animal tied to the rope can freely move around up to the length of the rope. It may think it is free and in control until it reaches to the full length of the rope and realises that its just a puppeteer.
It is better to handover the existence instead of tightly holding on.
Sometimes you have to step aside and let go of the need to control life.
Becuase eventually you will realise that you don’t have control.
At least not to the extent you believe.
And it is not even a sad story! It is the realisation that is most freeing. In fact it makes life interesting and worth living. Imagine a life where you could control everything! What an unexciting lifeless existence!
Accepting that you are not the controller is the beginning of peace and freedom.
